“Advancing and Assessing Competence” - Annual skills refresher and assessment for quality improvement in sonography for those who have already been scanning and have attended NIFLA's Institute in Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound.
- Completed over two days
- Provides refreshing in scanning skills, targeting specific concerns such as image optimization, updating and reviewing ultrasound practices
- Up to five persons may participate in the annual assessment
- Cost is $1200 plus travel/lodging expenses
- Continuing education contact hours will be provided for RNs.
Medical Professionals will update their knowledge and skills for continuous quality improvement in sonography in the PMCs. The two day course offers a comprehensive review of limited OB sonography utilizing best practice guidelines, chart/case reviews, with hands on skills review, assessment documentation of competency.
SoundView Imaging’s RDMS instructors, possess OB credentials, and years of experience in training in PMCs with expertise to deliver a high-quality learning experience at your facility.
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nurses for 3 CEUs per day.
Upon successful completion of this continuing education activity the medical professional will have increased knowledge and abilities to:
a. Utilize image critique and review for continuous quality improvement
b. Communicate indications and findings regarding limited OB sonograms to patient, others
c. Utilize sonography protocols with improved techniques in imaging critical anatomical landmarks demonstrating intrauterine pregnancy for patient safety
d. Utilize appropriate ultrasound probes for stage of pregnancy and best resolution
e. Identify fetal number; yolk sac, measurement of gestational sac, embryo(s) fetus(s) (crown rump length), or in second trimester (biparietal diameter, femur length)
f. Recognize signs of ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage; provide precautions and plan for appropriate follow up
g. Increased understanding of sonography physics and instrumentation principles to improve image quality
h. Identify and accurately document fetal cardiac activity or absence of
i. Describe ultrasound findings consistent with pregnancy complications including: anembryonic pregnancy, fetal demise, molar pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, heterotopic pregnancy; threatened incomplete or missed abortion, multiple gestations
